1/4/09Ok - So new journal for my new goal. Strongwoman Comp - hopefully by April...if I'm not ready, there's always September. But I'm striving for April. Eating protein like a maniac - 5 X a day no less - OMG !
So I decided to try the Westside BB Training method - in order to build as much muscle and strength as possible in a relatively short period of time ( 3 months. My bench mark numbers are as follows: DL 165 Bench Press 75 Overhead Press 65 Leg Press 500 Squat 125 My goal - increase all my numbers by 50% across the board. Doable? maybe not - but nothing ventured, nothing gained. here's what I did tonight... DE Day to start. Bench Press 10*55; 10*65; 10*75 OH BB Press 10*45; 10*55; 10*65 ( left shoulder is SUPER weak from my accident - need to get that stronger..and quick !) EZ Bar Incline curl 10*20; 10*30; 10/40*2 Lat Pull Down 10*65; 10*70; 10*75 Cardio Elyptical 10 Min treadmill 10 min ( incline at 4.5; only 3.6 speed) Started a blog called www.metastrongwoman.blogspot.com will post my journey, vids, and pics as well as my weekly stats.

I believe those goals a reachable. Since you are still new to the weight game and you will hit a whole new type of training when coming to strongwoman. you should make overall strength gain pretty quick. I will be keeping a close watch to this training so I can give input into what I think you should be changing to focus more on being able to compete at a higher level.

speaking from the other side looking in and how you "like" to go to the gym...you have to watch over training in this type of program...in three weeks you could end up doing more harm than good without adequate rest....once pitmomma gets rolling around here, pick her brain!

1/5 Monday
Killer day at work - first day back in 2 weeks - OMG !!!! headache all day, and to start off the day, I poked myself in the eye with my eyeliner ! Couldn't even do full makeup today and my eyes burned like hell all frigging day! So Troy met up with me at the college gym where I work ( can't bring a trainer into the new gym I joined- bummer) He had me do am ME day at the rack: narrow grip, sumo squat 135*2 155*2 185*2 205*1 215*1 235*1***********OMG can you believe it?????? now - 8 sets of 3 135*3, last set 135*6 ( just cause I still had some left in the tank!) Circut: hypers - 8/BW*2 Bent over rows 8/95*2 UH Pulldown 8/70*2 SLDS 8/95*2 Gym was closing down ( 6PM for the next week) and I could not do my last set. BCAA's before and after WO Couldn't eat till 8:30 cause I had to get one kid from the ortho and get to the other one's BB game thy won!) Taking tomorrow off, and meeting yp with Troy again on Wed to do a DE Shoulder and Chest day. Good stuff - really pleased with my efforts

The Chief told me this was a confidence booster...a good way to pull heavy weight from the start - really get the bigger muscles engaged. I'll post a vid on Wed when we train again. OH - I got to wear my new belt for the first time ![]() My hands were toast, tho. I was not supposed to wear gloves for this lift. The bar was literally slipping out of my hands at 235..I need wrist straps and chalk now.
